Purged from the inside

I had my Endometrial Ablation yesterday. Kind of a new mini hysterectomy, I guess. It is suppose to rid me of my crazy periods and be blood free if I'm lucky. Plus getting pregnant is pretty much zilch. Which doesn't mater cause hubby is fixed. It does matter if we ever make a go out of this whole "lifestyle". In case of a condom break or some mishap. (another subject)
Most women don't ever have their period again. So they basically scraped and waterjetted out my uterine wall. Sounds wonderful , huh? It is what it is though. They fully put me under and upon waking didn't think they had even started yet. I did experience some cramping and with the help of a Vicoden I went to bed and slept for 4 hours when I got home.
I did the needle / IV thing pretty well. I hate needles and was lucky to get someone who knew what she was doing.  I usually have a break down.
The toughest thing yesterday was being back at the hospital my mom passed away at for the first time since. Plus she was my caretaker and soft spot in my life for everything and anything. She would've brought me her miniature roses and let me squeeze her hand while they poked and prodded. She would've winked at me and told me everything was going to be ok and rub my arm with her sweet soft hands.
My hubby was there yesterday and he has always been there as well and is still there. He made me laugh and held my hand and rubbed my forehead and I felt safe. I'm so fortunate for having such a loving man in my life. What a sweetheart, he knows me.
So no sex for two weeks (holy shit) and it will be approximately 3 months before we know if the procedure worked. Let's all cross our fingers please.

Very interesting.

My wife is 42 years old, and for the past 5 years or so, since the birth of our second (and last) child, has been having crazy intense periods. Lots of blood and clotting, lots of cramping, and lots of intense mood swings, of which I'm usually on the receiving end. Yay...

She has talked to her GP, who told her that this is just part of the aging process, and is probably related to her no longer being on the pill. I had a vasectomy after the birth of the second child.

We are not in the lifestyle at all, so that's not a factor, although I would enthusiastically jump at the chance. Especially if it was with La Roo. Wifey would probably emasculate me if I even brought it up.

I should get her to look into this. Does it take care of other parts of your mentrual cycle, like hormonal mood swings, or just the bleeding?

Yikes! Glad it went well. My best friend was supposed to have that done last month, but had to cancel at the last minute. She has yet to reschedule it. I think I'm going to have her read this to get an idea of what it'll be like.

Hope you're feeling back to your old self soon.

weeder- As long as all goes well and my period stops like it should. I highly reccomend it. It will be so well worth it. I feel fine. I felt fine yesterday and yes I do have some bloating and some blood but no biggie and that is to be expected. Maybe TMI? Just telling it like it is. I feel like I'm a pretty level headed person but during that time I get a little crazy too. I've tried to manage it and it doesn't work. My doctor gave me last year a low dose of Serafem to take the week before and just during the times I can feel myself a little out of control.
I hate taking meds but it got to that point. Plus it isn't something I take constantly. It does level me out and that's a good thing. I'm lucky to have a progressive female doctor that is willing to look outside the box and realize everything isn't typical.
That's important, because we are not all the same.
Weeder, I'm flattered about what you said and this hasn't come over night for us and I'm not still sure if it will ever be on target, but we are having fun talking about it and exploring with it.. I think if it's important to you there is probably a way of bringing it up to her without offending or hurting. It would take baby steps and being able to communicate in a none threatening way. She might be more receptive to it than you think as long as it is brought about in a thought provoking way.

Chi Town Girl- Girlfriend I am A-Okay. No worries. Just waiting to see what the long haul brings. It doesn't work for all and sometimes it just decreases it which would be good also. I'm hoping for bye bye period.
Please feel free to have your friend read this.
It hasn't taken me down. Just no sex for 2 weeks, doctor check up Tuesday and we'll just have to see from there.
Thanks for caring.

My wife had the procedure several years ago. While it didn't totally stop the monthly blood flow, it certainly reduced it to a trickle.

I hope it all works out for you.
