Sleepy freak

Time for a change in the bedroom scenery. We have a tiny1920's spanish style house and I have gone with the traditional theme over the years, in my own little bright colored way, but now we're going to change it up a bit. Well, at least the bedroom.
It is sort of a Moulin Rouge hits a whimsical circus.
Or as I've been calling it fun Monkey Circus Sex room, or Frenchy fru fru circus.

I have designed a new closet that would be a replica of a built-in of the 1920's and hubby has started the craftmanship and measurements. He started cutting the in the last couple days. He's amazing with doing things like this. We make a pretty good team.
Our old closet must have been built added in the 70's, and it just had big sliding wood doors that never looked right and just doesn't fit what we like or our clothes for that matter.

So old is ripped out and we have lath and plaster exposed. We need to do some rewiring and get a drywall guy in to fix the exposed area and skim the whole room to make it smooth. I'm telling you, orange peel on the walls sucks (yes the texture, I hate it) and especially if you are going to do what we are with the paint. The picures below will give a clue to what the walls will look like.

Above: The stripes and the inspiration are what I'm talking about.
Above: The bird cage lamp hanging on my side of the bed. (not white)
Above: The hat lights on hubby's side of the bed.
Above: The bed I want. If anybody knows where I could find it, please let me know.
I don't know where I found it, probably some random blog. I need help on this one.
I've typed in british colonial bed....and a hundred different ones come up????
Above: In a room like this, you need shades with fringe.

This is probably the last thing we need to be doing, with all the stuff we are dealing with. Like my moms trust, and getting ready for estate sale, and having her house renovated a bit and selling it. Add on top of that the emotional strain. Good times.
But we've started it, and it is what it is. Maybe a good deturant from it all??? Or something to make me more stressy???

I think this project will be a good diversion for you.

My mother-in-law has that exact bed. :)

I can't wait to see the finished room. How about some before and after photos?

Laroo,

Not that it helps you locate the bed and purchase it, but the same image of that bed can be found here:

Down at the bottom of the original blog entry, it says "Images courtesy of House Beautiful." Whatever the heck that is...

You may also want to contact the writer of that blog, an interior design company, to see if they can help.

We found a somewhat similar bed on eBay. I had to drive 4 hours to pick it up, but, it was a good deal, and we have been enjoying it.
