Coming around the Bend

Ok, I think I've got the painting a little more dialed in. I've got him whooshing around the corner and have added other paper airplanes, like they've gotten flung off the ride. Today, I'll actually draw them onto the canvas and start painting again tomorrow when I'm at the gallery.
Wood in back of the second pic is for the head board of the murphy bed. That was our first piece we distressed and crackle painted. Today we will do a majority of the bed.
Top picture shows the type of piece we are going for . It will not be exact, but something to that effect.

Ooh I think that overlay of the paper plane and figure works, and I love your cupboard.

Thanks Jake, that's not my cupboard. Just one that we are using to get ideas from. (the top picture)

Is the Murphy Bed for you/hubby? Or, is it for drop-in guests who might stay for a couple of weeks or a month?

Now, wish it was for us. Cause it's cool!!!
It's a guest thing. And they better not stay a couple weeks or a month.

Okay, would three months be okay? Don't forget to leave a light on....

Oh you were talking for you, Bob.
The light is always on.
Uhh, 3 months????

This cabinet is not ours, just a sample that we were going off of. Kinda of for ideas. Ours is almost finished, we started from scratch.
And C, I'm doing great, thanks for coming by.

Probably too late with this, but blowing up your 2nd picture to check your flight angle on the larger aircraft shows your elliptical track is wrong. It should be much narrower than the smaller one above, almost flat to match the perspective of your background scene. The paper airplane should be banked slightly more to it's left, showing a little more from the bottom of the planes.
Watching a video of the NationaL Air Races from RENO will help you with the perspective of the planes.

The two planes above look more like they're doing a flyby than trying to race around the pylon,. but you've got them almost perfect for what they're doing and their height. If they were truly turning to race, at that point they'd be almost sideways with the wings perpendicular to the ground.

Can you tell I'm an airplane freak and a big fan of air racing?

But it's all hypothetical at this point. You've probably finished the painting by now!

My earlier comment about the Gibby book may be harder to find than I thought, so I found you an alternate way to learn perspective, right on Photoshop on your computer.
Check out this east step by step process on this site.

Maybe this will be of some help and save you time instead of going to a class where they drag out everything over weeks.
