Projects

Kind of ewwww.
Chair in its before stage. (sanded)
Pulling cushion staples.

Cutting all the wood for Murphy Bed.
Starting to assemble.
We got wood!! :)

We are project people. For years we've worked on our 1920's Spanish bungalow. It's been sort of a hobby for us. Well for the last year or so, we've taken a break from doing things that require weekend time. We have new friends, the gallery, and for a while just felt that we just need to kick back and enjoy our hard labor.
We gotten back into the swing of things and have a few projects under way. We are making a Murphy bed. (a bed that goes into a cabinet). It will be detailed out to go with our decor. The companies that make these don't make a style that we like. So we have ordered the mechanisms that make the bed go up and down and lock and are building out the bed frame and cabinet ourselves. It will have a custom paint job to make it look like a piece of rustic Mexican furniture.
We also have been refinishing a pair of old dining chairs that someone gave us. Sanding, painting, and reupholstering these has taken up more time than needed, but desperately need at our gallery for the desk area.
There are always other things that need to be done, when you start a project. For instance, We needed to paint the bedroom where the Murphy bed is going because when all said and done we wanted everything to look the part. (we painted last weekend) Where the bed is going, is where the electrical plugs are and there are none on the other side of the room. So, it needs to be moved. The desk that we bought 2 years ago is now to big to go on the other side of the room. Now in the market for small rustic desk. This is something we've wanted to do for quite sometime now and we are having company in the middle of June. It just gave us a purpose to do it, because we are not equipped with any other sleeping arrangements.
I will follow up with the progress.

I've always wanted to put a Murphy bed in Grace's room to make room for all of her stuff. It just makes sense as Grace rarely spends the night with us but when she does a bed in her room is in order. As you know, Murphy beds cost big bucks which is hard to justify given the limited use they get. How great that hubby is crafty (is that the right word or it skilled?) enough to make create such a work of art. Sounds nice.
