Sketchbook

These are just some pages out of my sketchbook as of lately. I first described about it on my September 11th post "A little Sketchy". It is one of the many things I'm doing for my class. We draw still life's in class, but are to keep a sketchbook. She wanted us to always have a pencil in the drawing. That was just because she ran into so many students saying I can't think of anything to draw. So basically you can draw anything as long as there is a pencil in it, or it can be the main subject. I've decided drawing really isn't my thing, I'm just ok at it. Painting is the thing that does it for me. I love the application, making and painting colors and thinking up an interesting subject for the composition. Unfortunately, the two go hand and hand most of the time. Unless you're an abstract artist and I'm not. So, I will plug along and try to refine my drawing skills until I am comfortable with the process. I already have picked up things that have been very beneficial to my craft, so it has been positive. It's just not in my comfort zone.

You're a million times better at sketching than I could ever be! <3

Nice work. My 16 year old daughter keeps a sketchbook like that. She is very artistic. My mom and aunt were also artist. I guess talent like that skips a generation. lol

Brit- You are a million times better at expressing yourself and putting it into words. We all have different strengths, I guess.

Ironbear-Thanks for the compliment.
Nurture your daughters abilities. Some people overlook the artistic side of their kids and it's sad. It is a great way for them to express themselves. And who knows, that might be a big part of her future.
Some people art it comes natually, others need to be taught. Myself, I'm a little of both. We all have an artistic side, it's just letting yourself go there.

Getting much better on your perspectives.

Pencils are starting to look a lot better

First time I've noticed your left handed.

I left a comment here yesterday but was lost for some reason. Let's see if I can re-create that:

Picasso, Miro, Van Gogh . . . all the classic artists . . . does anyone think they mastered pencil/pad sketching through the guidance of a teacher. Fortunately, they though outside the box and created their own realities of the world we live in. That you don't like or cannot achieve the level of sketchpad art that someone feels is acceptable, in my opinion, is a good thing. Create your own prospectives and to hell with the rest of it.

That someone feeling it is unacceptable is me. I'm little by little feeling like I'm letting go.
Those classics did have mentors and I'm sure learned the basics to be able to blossom into greatness. If you don't have a good foundation, trying to make your viewer believe or wonder goes by the wayside and just sits there without a body. Even if something isn't quite in prospective, it has to read like you did it on purpose and has authority behind it.

And a good morning to you, Laroo. Sun is shining. Gonna be 80 later today. Just another day in Cowtown paradise. :) Thanks for thinking of me.
