Take a picture, it lasts longer.

Being stared at is how one takes it.  Some days, I feel pretty good about myself and it doesn't bother me. Why some days are different then others is beyond me? Today I felt like a giant rolling turd that should have gotten up and did a tap dance for the people who just need some kind of freak show-train wreck.
I know I shouldn't let people get to me, but they do, and they will, and I'll deal with it.
Yea, I look at persons that look different than myself, but I don't stare. It's just rude.

Well if I saw you I'd give you a smile, and if you chat to someone you like looking at you can look at them for a long time :)

I'd echo what Jake said. I'd look at you because you are great on the eye to look at.

How exactly did they look at you, what kind of stare?

It is the kind of stare that is hard to explain or to get the true feeling across.
It's the what's wrong with you and why are you in a chair stare.
It's the pitty stare.
You don't look like you should be in that wheelchair stare.
Or the I'm not sure how to act around you stare.
I know the difference between a casual fun stare and the look of judgement.

I get sick of it too. My daughter is 11 and she hates it when people stare at me. I understand looking and being curious, but staring is so rude. In my 30 years of being in a chair, I said something to someone once. I said, "Why don't you take a picture, it lasts longer".
